Deprecated functionality

The following sections describes the support status of Experience Optimization (formerly SmartTarget) functionality that is deprecated or no longer supported.

Deprecated Template Building Blocks

Support for the following Template Building Blocks, delivered in SmartTarget 2011 SP3 and earlier, is deprecated. For backwards compatibility, these templates are still supported in this release, but support will be dropped in a future release.

Add SmartTarget facet promotion

Add SmartTarget search promotion

Set SmartTarget Page View

Deprecated TCDL

Support for the following TCDL elements are deprecated and support will be dropped in the next release:
TCDL elementDescription
<tcdl:facet> tagDefines a Promotion that displays items depending on the location of the user in the Web site.
<tcdl:item> tagDefines a Promotion that displays content items depending on a single other Component Presentation displayed on the Page.
multiValue attribute in <tcdl:attribute> tagUse the operator attribute for filtering items.

Deprecated publishing framework

Because SDL Web deprecates the publishing framework in favor of a new publishing framework, Publication Targets are now a deprecated concept, and so is the Targeting tab that Experience Optimization adds to the Publication Target dialog.

Deprecated free form query methods such as Query.Execute

To make Experience Optimization more flexible, query methods such as Query.Execute, that only work with a query specific to Fredhopper, are deprecated in favor of the more generic QueryBuilder class.
