Fixing invalid Promotions

A Promotion is invalid if a Publication, Page Region, Trigger, or Content is incorrectly configured or no longer exists.

Before you begin

If necessary, disable an invalid Promotion before fixing the problem.

About this task

If a Promotion is invalid because a Publication, Page Region, Trigger, or Content no longer exists, Fredhopper removes the definition automatically from the Promotion and creates a warning message which you can view when you edit the Promotion.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Targeting.

    The Targeting Dashboard appears.

  2. In the Source drop-down menu:
    1. Select a Web site for which you want to manage Promotions. For example, you will typically have a "Staging" Web site and a "Live" Web site:
      • Staging is the internal Web site where Experience Manager is set up for inline editing and testing
      • Live is your external, public-facing Web site
    2. Click the Promotions tab to view the list of Promotions available for the Web site.
A list of Promotions for which you have Manage Promotions rights is displayed.
  3. At the top of the Promotion Dialog, a warning message is displayed if there are invalid Promotions:
  4. Go to the invalid Promotion and click the edit icon .
  5. Review the warning messages and fix the problems:
    • If the Promotion still has a scope Publication, at least one Page Region, a Trigger defined (and Trigger value), and a content item and valid Component Template selected, you can click Save to confirm these changes.
    • If the Promotion does not have a scope Publication, or a selected Page Region, Trigger (and Trigger value), or no content or Component Template is selected, you need to fix these problems before you can click Save.
