New user interface features

A dedicated interface has been developed in SDL Web Experience Optimization 8 for end users to create and manage Promotions.

Promotions Dialog
You can create and manage Promotions for a Fredhopper system in the Promotions Dialog . Open the Content Explorer and, in the slide out navigation pane, select Targeting to open the Promotions Dialog.
The branded version of the Fredhopper Business Manager—known as the SmartTarget Manager—is no longer the interface for creating Promotions. Promotions created in the Promotions Dialog are by default hidden in the Fredhopper Business Manager.
Promotion Lists
In the Promotions Dialog, Promotions are displayed in Promotions Lists. A Promotion List contains Promotions available for a specific Web site. You have one Promotion List per Fredhopper system configured on a Publication Target. You can validate Promotions in Experience Manager.
Defining Promotions
A Promotion is valid if a Publication, Page Regions, Triggers and values (including filtering and ordering), and Content (Components and Components Templates, picked individually or based on Keywords or Folders is correctly configured) is correctly configured.
SmartTarget and BluePrinting
When you create a Promotion, you can select the Web site Publication the Promotion is available in. By default, a Promotion is only available in this Publication. You can choose to include the Promotion in Child Publications in which case the Promotion in Child Publications returns localized content.
