Creating a Project
- The system can automatically create a project through a Business Rule. This is the most likely scenario in a production system. Specifically, your administrator or you, if the administrator gave you rights to do so, can set up a rule that watches for new content and automatically creates a project when the new content is added. For information about setting up rules, see the section "Creating and Using Rules" in the WorldServer Administrator Guide.
- You can manually create a project through the WorldServer Explorer interface or via the Upload Files and Create a Project on the Home page. For example, after an author has added content to the system, you can manually create a translation project that creates versions of that content for new languages. See the following section for instructions on creating a project manually.
- You can manually create a project through the TransPort. See the "Setting Up TransPort" chapter of the WorldServer Administrator Guide.
- You can create a project using the WorldServer SDK. See the WorldServer Software Development Kit (SDK) User Guide
When it executes, a project creates one task per asset per target language. For example, if you create a project with two assets and three target languages, there will be a total of six tasks.
Creating a Project Manually
To create a project manually, go to the Explorer tab, select the source assets, and choose .
When you create a project, you must specify a workgroup and a workflow. A workgroup is an artificial construct in WorldServer that allows users to be categorized by logical division within an organization, rather than in a way pertaining to a translation process, for example, by vendor or locale. If you want a project to involve a particular division in your organization, either have your WorldServer administrator create that workgroup, or ask the administrator to give you rights to do so. For more information on workgroups, see the “Creating Workgroups” section in the WorldServer Administrator Guide.
For information about setting up a workflow for your project, see the Using Workflows to Manage Processes topic.
