Before you begin
In order to configure WorldServer for TransPort use, you need to create Project Types and identify the workgroup and workflow(s) used for project creation in TransPort and WorldServer.
See Adding Project Types.
A workgroup is a group of WorldServer users who are related by department or business unit, for example, marketing or sales. A workgroup is used to assign the pool of users who are available for any given project.
A workflow defines a standard, repeatable process for translating and handling content. An individual workflow consists of steps, and transitions that link the steps together, imposing an order in which the steps occur.
Note: TransPort requires that you select a workgroup and workflow when configuring Project Types. The WorldServer administrator should keep the following in mind when identifying:
- Workgroups. Create a new workgroup for TransPort users, or use an existing workgroup in the system, such as the Default workgroup. If you have multiple workgroups in the system, make sure that:
- All the client users are in a workgroup that is set up to create projects in TransPort.
- All Transport users who request quotes are in the workgroup specified in the Project Type that they select. These users are regarded by WorldServer as Submitters in the workflow. Workflow steps assigned to the Submitters role are resolved dynamically for the client user associated with the project.
This ensures that WorldServer will assign tasks to the client users properly. For more information, see User Groupings. A WorldServer administrator can optionally post announcements and useful URL links on the TransPort and WorldServer Home pages. Note that the administrator can filter announcements and URL links by workgroup, locale, or Client.
- Workflows. Since there is no out-of-the-box (default) workflow, you need to create a workflow (or several workflows if you want different target locales to follow different processing routes). Even if there are existing workflows in the system, you may want to create special workflows for TransPort.
For information on workflows, see the Workflows and Process Management section.
