About TransPort

An introduction to a feature that provides an easy way for customers to transfer and track files.

In today's enterprise software world, the term portal often describes a unified, highly customized interface for a collection of integrated services available to a given set of business users. The level of integration behind portals varies, but ease of use, quick deployment and customizability are recognizable and consistent requirements. Enterprise customers and service providers can get packaged portal functionality through the Translation Portal (TransPort), which is a customizable, easy-to-use front-end to WorldServer. TransPort users benefit by having a limited set of features to learn, while still taking advantage of WorldServer’s powerful back-end services, such as asset integration, costing, workflow and Translation Memory leverage. Service providers who run WorldServer in-house can deploy TransPort for their enterprise customers, instead of developing stand-alone, one-off custom portals from scratch. TransPort provides an easy way for customers to transfer files to their service providers, request and approve quotes, and track their deliverables. Enterprise WorldServer customers who act as centralized localization hubs for their organizations can deploy TransPort portal interfaces to manage in-sourced/out-sourced localization requests from multiple divisions, departments or subsidiaries. This reduces the training requirements and complexity for internal customers with ad-hoc or highly variable translation requests. TransPort is also designed to fit easily into an existing intranet/extranet web presence. Customization features allow for skinning of company-branded translation management portals to look like other company intranet and extranet web applications. As with many areas of WorldServer, TransPort can also be extended through the WorldServer SDK to meet more demanding custom application requirements.TransPort gives full visibility into the status of translation requests and quotes, within WorldServer’s secure, web-based framework, yet without the need to interact directly with WorldServer. Depending on permissions, TransPort users can:Request quotesRequest project estimatesReceive scoping, cost estimates, and status updates in real timeCreate quotes and projectsManage quotes and projectsThe TransPort user interface can be customized using the WorldServer SDK.
