Adding clients

Clients are groups of users who submit content and require translation services. For example, a client can include an entire organization or a department within an organization.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to Management > User Setup > Clients.
  2. Select Add.
  3. In the Client: New dialog box, do the following:
    1. On the General tab, in the Name and Description boxes, enter an appropriate name and description for your client.
    2. In the Client Folder box, specify the AIS folder that you want to be associated with the new client.
    3. Next to Quote Approval, choose whether you want the process for approving quotes to be performed manually or automatically, by using a workflow.
    4. Next to Project Types, select the project types that you want to associate with the client and use the arrows to move them from the Available Project Types list to the Selected Project Types list.
    5. On the TDs&TMs tab, under Translation Memory, select the type of translation memory that you want to use for this client 1.
    6. Under Terminology Database, select the type of terminology database that you want to use for this client.
    7. On the Users&Contacts tab, in the Available Users list, select the users that you want to include in this client and use the arrows to move them either to the Client Managers or to the and Client Users lists.
  4. Select Save.
1 For both translation memories and terminology databases, you can:
  • Let the project type control which TM or TD is used (by selecting No client-specific TM/TD).
  • Instruct WorldServer to create an empty TM or TD and use it for all locales. When you select this option, WorldServer creates a new TM or TD with a unique name and description. This TM or TD is used only for project types that are configured to use the client-specific TM or TD.
  • Choose a default TM or TD for all locales.
At the time of project creation, project type TM and TD settings take precedence over the client settings, unless you select the client-specific TM or TD. To avoid inconsistency errors when creating projects, make sure that the TM and TD settings for the client and for the project type are consistent. For example, if you set the client to use No client-specific TM, then you can set the project type to Choose default TM for all locales.
