Communicating with Translators

WorldServer has a number of features you can use to communicate with translators, including issue tracking, announcements, notifications, and segment comments.

Issue Tracking System

You can have two types of issues: task dependent and task independent. A task dependent issue is attached to a task, and is usually used to communicate with the translator during the translate and review cycle. The issue is visible to the task assignees.

A task independent issue can be assigned to individual users or to a group of users. Use this issue type to communicate an issue to a broader audience.

When issues are assigned an email is send to the assignees.

See the Working with Issues topic.

Announcements

You can send announcement to a group of people filtered by locale and workgroup. Announcements will be visible on the user's home page.

See the Working with Announcements topic.

Notifications

When a workflow human step executes, task assignees are notified and can claim the task. To receive these notifications, you must have kept Send email when tasks are assigned to me (set by default) set in your personal preferences (Tools > Personal Preferences) and your administrator must have set up your email in your user profile.

You may want to be informed of changes to your source assets so you know when projects need to be created, to be informed of changes to a localized version to monitor progress, or to be automatically informed when a task or task step assigned to you is near due or overdue. Such notification messages can be configured in business rules. See the "Creating and Using Rules" online help page.

See the Working with Notifications topic.

Segment Comments

Reviewers can add a comment to an individual segment. Use this functionality to communicate per-segment feedback back to translator during translate and review cycle.

See the Using the WorldServer Browser Workbench topic.
