Linguistic Tools Overview
WorldServer provides linguistic tools to help you work more effectively as you translate assets in your globalization process. You can search a translation memory or terminology database for related text, to supplement the matches found when an asset is leveraged. For example, if you were trying to translate a sentence about tangerines and you didn't get any TM matches for tangerines, you might search in the TM for oranges to look for examples of how a related phrase was translated.
Definitions
- Translation Memory
- Translation memories (TMs) make it easier to translate files as they change multiple times, ensuring consistency and reducing the time and cost of translation. For more information about setting up translation memory and TM Groups, see the "Linguistic Tools Setup" chapter in the SDL WorldServer Administrator Guide. For more information about working with translation memory in the WorldServer Browser Workbench, see Translation Memory Match Tips.
- Terminology Database
- A terminology database (TD) allows you to manage commonly used terms and phrases. For information about setting up terminology databases and TD Groups, see the "Setting up Term Databases" section of the "Linguistic Tools Setup" chapter in the WorldServer Administrator Guide. For more information about using terminology databases in the WorldServer Browser Workbench, see Terminology Database Entries.
