Locating TD Entries with Search

Before you can work with terminology database (TD) entries, you must locate them using the WorldServer search panel. Once you have created the search result set that you want, you can perform TD exports and deletes, create a validation project for the terms or entries in the result set, and access the View Term page.

Locate TD entries on the Tools > Terminology Databases > Terminology Database: <TD> page from the Search tab, in which you can enter a string and search, and the Browse tab with an A-Z navigator.

In the Browse tab, clicking on each letter enters the equivalent search text in the search panel. For example, clicking on A causes a search on the A* expression. Note that some languages, such as Chinese, do not support letter-based selection.

The Search feature allows you to do the following:
  • Search in several modes: Standard, Segment leverage, and—using the Advanced button—Freeform SQL.
  • Specify a maximum number of hits to return.
  • In Standard mode, match the complete term (or not) and make the search case-sensitive (or not).
  • In Standard or Segment leverage mode, filter on the status of the terms.
  • Using the Advanced button, apply attribute filters during the search.

In both Browse and Search operations, when entries display in the results pane, they have a term status indicator icon on their left.

You can do the following with the result sets of both Browse and Search operations:

  • You can choose to hide all rejected and proposed terms, leaving only Active and Inactive terms, by unchecking the Show rejected/proposed terms checkbox.
  • Use the hyperlink around the term in the search result set to access the View Term dialog box for each term in the result. From this dialog box, you can edit, delete, and make status changes to the term; add new terms to the entry; and propose changes to terms and entries.
  • Use the result set to perform exports and deletes; and create a validation project for the result set.
