Project Types

A project type is a template for creating projects. When you create a project, using a project type, WorldServer gets the following information from the project type:
  • The source locale from which you are translating
  • Whether to require a due date for tasks
  • The workgroup for the project
  • The default workflow to use (for all locales, or per locale)
  • The default file type configuration to use (for all locales, or per locale)
  • The default cost model to use (for all locales, or per locale)
  • The Studio QA Checker profile (for translation consistency)
  • Whether to use a client-specified translation memory or to specify one here (for all locales, or per locale)
  • Whether to use a client-specified terminology database or to specify one here (for all locales, or per locale)
  • Any custom AIS properties or project attributes you want the project creator to provide
  • The default Machine Translation (MT) configuration to use (for all locales, or per locale)
  • The default quality models (for all locales, or per locale)

A project type lets you automatically apply a set of AIS properties, default workflows, and linkages when you create a new project using the Upload Files and Create Project feature in WorldServer or the Create New Project feature in TransPort.

You create a project type by clicking Add in the Management > Business Rule Linkage > Project Types page. Alternatively, you can base your new project type on an existing one by opening the existing project type, modifying it, then clicking Save As New.
