The Home Tab

The Home tab is the first WorldServer page you see when you log on. It provides at-a-glance information about your current projects, issues, and notifications with links to the project list, task list, or notification list, as applicable. It also features the following:

  • Useful links, which allow you access to external and internal URLs
  • Reports Dashboard, which provide reports on projects, language pairs, and translations
  • WorldServer Shortcuts, which allow you to jump to other WorldServer pages
  • Recent Announcements, which allow you to communicate with other users in your workgroups and locales

Useful Links

Useful links can be any URL that has been set up for your locale and workgroup. For example, you could have a link to your corporate glossary, which would be useful to translators.

By default, there are links to the Upload Files and Create Project dialog, WorldServer product documentation, and the WorldServer launcher for third-party applications.

Reports Dashboard

The Reports Dashboard provide you with insights on the number of active projects assigned and claimed by you, on the projects that require immediate attention, the most used language pairs, recent translation activity and the number of translated words since the creation of the very first project.

Shortcuts

Shortcuts are internal WorldServer links. You can create a shortcut to go directly to any other page in WorldServer. This feature is useful for pages that you use frequently, such as the task list for a project you are currently working on.

Create a shortcut by clicking the shortcut icon at the top right of the page to which you want to jump. The icon is just below the WorldServer tabs.

The shortcut appears on the Home tab in the WorldServer Shortcuts section. When you no longer need a shortcut, delete it by clicking the x next to the link.

Announcements

Use announcements to communicate general information to the users in your locale and workgroup. After allowing adequate time for team members to read an announcement, you can delete the announcement.

Before you can post or delete an announcement, your administrator must set one of the following permissions for your user type:
  • Can post announcements
  • Can post HTML announcements
  • Can delete announcements

If you have permission to post announcements containing HTML, you can use any valid HTML tags, but be extremely careful to form the HTML correctly. Also, after creating an announcement containing HTML tags, make sure you select the HTML announcement check box before clicking Save.

You can target an announcement for members of specific:
  • WorldServer locales or workgroups
  • TransPort users (clients)
  • WorldServer locales or workgroups and TransPort users
