TransPort Features

TransPort provides the following features:

  • Grouping customers and projects – TransPort uses a Client object to makes it easy to keep projects for different clients separate. A Client has two types of member users: Client Users and Client Managers. The Client Users typically work for the client company that requires translation services. The Client Manager (there can be more than one) typically works for an organization providing the translation services, for example:
    • A localization department within an enterprise
    • An LSP company managing the translation itself
  • Project Type – TransPort uses a Project Type, a template that defines a translation project's:
    • General Properties, such as Name, Source Locale, and Due Date and Time
    • Workgroups and workflows
    • Filter Configuration
    • Cost Models
    • Linguistic Tools, such as Translation Memories, Terminology Databases, and Machine Translation configurations
    • Purpose, such as the type of translation project
Note that administrators must add Project Types to each Client object to create an association between the Project Type and the Client (and to display the defined Project Types as a selection list in TransPort). Project types require a workflow. For example, administrators can create a One-step Translation project type that uses a simple workflow with a single human step.
  • Grouping quote documents and information – TransPort uses a Quote object for grouping quote documents, which includes scoping and cost estimates for a translation project. Users can immediately launch a project from an approved quote.
  • Custom project attributes – Administrators can share custom attributes across several object types, such as projects and quotes. Note that custom attributes are user-defined properties or WorldServer objects used to expand the core definitions of that object.
  • Create Projects Based on Quotes – TransPort users can start a project as soon as a quote is approved. TransPort easily converts a quote into a translation project by populating the Project Creation dialog box with previously entered information and settings.
