Vendor

The vendor is configured under Management > User Setup > Vendor. Each user can be the member of only one vendor. The vendor assignment does not control access; it is used for administrative purposes, for example, to create reports and to provide a logical grouping of users. Often, a workflow role corresponds directly to the vendor, and in this way human steps can be assigned to a specific vendor.

The following are examples of vendor groupings:
  • Staff linguist
  • Translation Vendor
  • Linguos Translators, Inc.

Vendors are organizations that perform the actual localization of assets. Linking vendors to WorldServer projects enables you to manage that part of the localization process from the WorldServer console, including assigning tasks and scoping work.

Within WorldServer, you can add, view, modify, or delete a vendor, as well as evaluate vendor data. WorldServer lets you develop a cost model for each vendor, with which you can compare projected translation costs, based on word count and price per word, between prospective vendors.

WorldServer also includes out-of-the-box reports for:
  • Cost by Vendor and TM Match Level
  • TM Cost Savings by Vendor
  • Translation Cost by Project and Vendor
  • Vendor Task Completion Summary
  • Vendor Task Completion by Locale
  • Vendor Task Completion Details
