Word Stemmers

Stemming is the process of identifying or creating canonical forms (or roots) for words for the purpose of normalizing certain differences. These canonical forms are referred to as stems. The primary objective of stemming is to provide a means of identifying words that are related. These can be useful in performing searches for words that are related, but not identical. For example, paint would be a likely stem for these words:
  • Paint
  • Painter
  • Paints
  • Painting
  • Painted

The word stemmer component provides you the ability to create multiple stemming implementations that can be assigned and used with WorldServer translation memories.
