WorldServer TD Setup

WorldServer terminology databases (TDs) let you enforce a standard vocabulary when your assets are translated.

You can use the default WorldServer terminology database for all your assets, or you can create multiple terminology databases to meet your needs. Set up terminology databases in Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Term Database Setup.

Example

If you are globalizing your corporate Web site, your intranet site, and your software, you could create a different terminology database for each globalization effort. This may help increase the amount of useful terminology database matches and reduce inaccurate or inappropriate matches.

You can use multiple terminology databases (TDs) based on WorldServer target asset folders. Each folder has a Term Database value, which is set to the Default TD unless you change it. Change a folder's TD value in two ways.

  • Highlight the folder in WorldServer Explorer and select Asset > Properties from the Explorer menu.
  • Navigate to Management > Asset Interface System > View and Change Properties, expand to the target folder you want, and click Change.

The Properties column on the View and Change Properties page shows the term database you have set.

For information about using terminology databases, including import and export, see the WorldServer User Guide.

See other terminology database topics for more information on adding TDs, TD groups, and TD security.
