Basic Setup Worksheet

Use the following worksheet to gather the information that you need to work through the Basic Setup wizard.

Display the Basic Setup wizard by clicking Basic Setup on the WorldServer Home page. As you move through WorldServer, the Basic Setup guide remains visible to remind you of the next task. Click on each task in the Basic Setup guide to go to the area in WorldServer where you complete that task.

Basic setup of WorldServer includes these main tasks:
  • Setting up locales
  • Connecting to content
  • Associating folders with locales
  • Setting up linkage
  • Setting up users
  • Setting up workflow
  • Creating a project

Creating Locales

Create locales in Management > Business Rule Linkage > Locales.

When creating a locale, note the following:

Users to associate with the locale 

Connecting to Content

Connecting to content means to specify the location and configuration of your content by adding an AIS (asset interface system) mount. Add a mount at Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts.

There are several different types of mounts that can be configured for WorldServer and the information necessary for successful configuration varies by mount. This worksheet lists the most common information and allows space for you to make notes on additional configuration elements.

Associating Folders with Locales

Associate locales with folders in Management > Asset Interface System > View and Change Properties.

Setting Up Linkage

Set linkage in Management > Business Rule Linkage > Linkage.

Use this table to map links between source and target folders. Write in the names of the source and target folders you will be linking.

Creating Users

Create users at Management > User Setup > Users.

For each WorldServer user, gather or determine the following information for creating the user account in WorldServer:

Setting Up Workflows

Create workflows using the Workflow Editor. Launch the Workflow Editor at Management > Workflow > Workflows.

Creating a Project

Make sure at least one asset is in each source folder before creating a project based on a source folder. Upload assets and create projects in the WorldServer Explorer. Click Projects > Create Project to create a project.
