Default AIS Properties

Default AIS properties are shown in the following table:
PropertyDescription
LocaleSpecify a locale for the top-level source and target folders.
Context URLSpecify the URL of the parent page to which this asset belongs. This is used for the viewer in context mode. See Context URL for more details.
CommentsAdd comments, if needed.
Translation MemoryFor the target folder only, specify a translation memory.
Term DatabaseFor the target folder only, specify a terminology database.
Filter Configuration

Specify which filter to use (only available if there are multiple filter configuration instances for the appropriate filters). Alternatively, if you have selected a directory, you may specify a filter group.

  • For a file - If a file has a filter associated with it through the MIME type, and the filter has at least one custom configuration defined, the Filter Configuration property will be shown. The user can select the desired configuration, and this configuration will be used to parse the file.
  • For a directory - If there is at least one custom configuration for any of the filters defined in WorldServer, then the Filter Configuration property will be available for directories. It will list all the configurations in the form of Filter Name: Config Name. If you have defined any filter groups associated with the MIME type and filter for this directory, you can select a filter group. If the value is a filter group, when WorldServer segments the asset, the filter group is searched for an entry that contains the MIME type of the source asset being filtered. If one is found, the filter and filter configuration in that entry are used. If not, the base filter and filter configuration for the MIME type are used.

Select the appropriate configuration, which will be inherited by all files under this directory. If a file filter is compatible with the selected configuration, then the configuration will be used. Otherwise, the default configuration will be used.

For example, directory A contains files one.html and two.doc files. The user sets HTML Filter: My Config to the directory A. This configuration will be used to parse one.html, but will be ignored while parsing two.doc (which will be parsed using the default DOC filter configuration).

This feature was developed to control parsing rules for different files rather than for the same file across multiple locales. Because WorldServer caches parsing results and re-uses them for all the locales, multiple configuration will not take effect in this case. If separate parsing rules for multiple locales are required, contact WorldServer support.

Entry FormSpecify which Entry Form to use for any assets under this path. Set up the Entry Form at Management > Administration > Customization.
TriggersSpecify which triggers to activate.
EditingSpecify which Click and Edit editor to use for the asset, either the Click and Edit 1.0 editor (more restrictive), or the WYSIWYG editor.
AIS MaskSelect an AIS Mask, if you have defined one, to control what objects can be used for this asset. The objects you can mask must be of the following object type: AIS Properties, Publishing Objects, or Workflows.
EncodingChoose whether to use the default encoding declared in the locale or whether to override the encoding locally.
Access ControlSpecify which users and groups have read, write, and change permission to the folder. Note that write permission assumes read permission, and that change permission assumes read and write permissions.
For each property, a folder or asset has one of the following values:
  • No value
  • An inherited value (the default), which means that the folder or asset derives the value for that property from its hierarchical parent
  • An explicit value, which means the folder or asset has a different value than its hierarchical parent
