Filter Groups

A filter group stores mappings between a MIME type (equivalent to a file type) and the filter and filter configuration to use for that MIME type. You typically assign filter groups to project types or AIS target directories.

You can use filter groups to do the following, without changing the default configuration of your filters.
  • Configure multiple filters for a single MIME type. Because some file types—for example XML and text files—are used to store many different types of data, these file types require different filters, rather than just different filter configurations. You can use a separate filter group for each set of content of a given MIME type that requires a non-default filter.
  • Assign multiple filter configurations for a single project type or AIS property value. You can assign multiple filter configurations and custom filters to the directory containing all the target documents for a particular customer. This lets you avoid making individual filter assignments in multiple places throughout the AIS structure.
