The Home page in SDL WorldServer 11.0.1

The Home page is the first screen you see after logon. It provides at-a-glance information about your current Projects, issues, and links to the Projects list, Tasks list or notifications, as applicable.

The Home page features the following:

  • The slide-out navigation pane
  • The Overview tab
  • The Get Started tab
  • The Favorites tab
  • The Recent Announcements pane, which allows WorldServer administrators to communicate with other users in the same workgroups and locales.

The slide-out navigation pane

Via the slide-out navigation pane, you can get to specific WorldServer sections directly, at a click of a button. Thus, you can access the following WorldServer sections or features:
  • Projects
  • Quotes
  • Issues
  • Explorer
  • Tools
  • Management
  • Users
  • Settings
  • Help — to open the WorldServer context sensitive webhelp
  • About — to open the About SDL WorldServer page, with product and contact information.

The Overview tab

The Overview tab enables you to see the number of Projects assigned to you, the number of Issues for Tasks claimed by you and the total number of Tasks assigned to you. You can go to the Projects and Issues sections by clicking the values displayed next to the respective labels.

The Your Assignments report displays the following information:
  • the active Projects assigned to you
  • the number of Tasks assigned to you or claimed by you
  • the number of Words assigned to you or claimed by you.
Clicking the Your Assignments report takes you to the Projects section, where you can see all the Projects assigned to you.

The Get Started tab

From the Get Started tab you can create a translation Project, import files, watch the video tutorials for SDL WorldServer 11.0.1 and access the online documentation.

Expanding the Video Tutorials section provides you with the following training videos:
  • Working with Projects
  • Working with Tasks
  • Changing Task assignees
  • Performing a multi-criteria search.

To play these videos you need to have Adobe Flash Player installed on your browser. In future releases, we intend to expand the video tutorials available to you, part of our constant effort to ease up the process of learning how to perform operations in WorldServer.

Expanding the Help section of the Get Started tab provides you with quick access to:
  • The SDL WorldServer 11.0.1 documentation, available online on the SDL Documentation Center
  • The SDL WorldServer 11.0.1 Online Help, the context sensitive webhelp
  • The SDL Knowledge Base, where specific patches, hotfixes and behaviors are documented
  • The SDL Support page.

The Favorites tab

On this tab you can access external and internal URLs, useful links set up for your Locale and workgroup. This feature is useful for pages that you use frequently, such as the Tasks list for a project you are currently working on. For example, you could have a link to your corporate glossary, which would be useful to translators. You can add items such as specific shortcuts to various WorldServer screens to the Favorites tab by clicking the Add to Favorites icon, wherever it is available (for example, when viewing a specific project).

Recent Announcements

The Recent Announcements section enables administrators and users to communicate general information to the users in the same locale and workgroup. After allowing adequate time for team members to read an announcement, you can delete the announcement.
