Troubleshooting Import and Export
When troubleshooting import or export, first consider the file type.
Available import and export file formats are:
- Compressed files
Files of type XLZ or ZIP, these files contain all the files for the translation kit.
- XML
IDDand XLF are XML format files and can be opened in a Web browser. If the import or export fails on one of these file types, try opening it in a Web browser. Sometimes the problems is related to in invalid XML file.
- metadata
Metadata files contain lists of assets and other important information. Do not alter these files.
After considering the file type, perform the tasks on the following list to further track down the issue:
- Look in the associated log file for more details, including segment number and text.
- To narrow the issue to something happening during translation, reimport the original XLZ files into WorldServer without translation.
- Make sure the correct files are in the translated kit.
- If you see warnings about files not found, check the metadata file to be sure that the files listed there match the files in the kit.
- Compare the original untranslated files to translated files for mismatches sources, invalid placeholders, or other areas of concern.
- Open files in the translation tool itself to look for issues with segments or sources.
