Adding a New Mount General Instructions

When you add a new mount, ensure that a license is installed for that mount and then configure the mount, itself.

Adding Licenses for Connectors

WorldServer installs licenses for the file system mount, the SDL Knowledge Center™ connector, and the SQL connector. WorldServer provides licenses for all other connectors, but you must install a license for each additional type of connector you want to create. In WorldServer, navigate to Management > Administration > Licenses and add the license key or keys.

Configuring the Mount

To get started with adding a new mount, follow these general instructions:

In the Basic Setup Guide, click Connect to Content or create a new mount in Management > Asset Interface System > AIS Mounts. Work with the Mount: New dialog box to configure the mount. Enter the mount name and type. Then follow the instructions for the specific type of mount you are configuring.

Creating a Directory Structure

After you create a mount, use the WorldServer Explorer command, Asset > New, to create subfolders within the mount. We recommend that you create source and target locale folders at the first level under the mount, and then create subdirectories under the source locale folder.

If you are globalizing this content, then replicate the directory structure that you created under the source locale directory. When you translate, WorldServer automatically replicates the directory structure of the source locale directory, but it only replicates folders that contain translatable content. It does not copy folders and files that lack translatable content (for example, a folder of image files). Therefore, we recommend that you replicate the entire directory structure for completeness.

To replicate the structure, use the WorldServer Explorer command Edit > Copy or a combination of the commands Asset > Download and Asset > Upload.

The following figure provides an example of the suggested directory structure.
