Adding comments
By adding comments, you can make suggestions to translators and reviewers and help improve the overall quality of the translation. You can add comments only to target segments.
Procedure
- Open the appropriate asset in SDL Online Editor.
- Do one of the following:
Action By doing so, you can add a comment... Select a fragment of text in the target segment. To the current selection, to the current segment, or to the entire file. Click anywhere inside a target segment that has text in it. To the current segment or to the entire file. Click anywhere inside an empty target segment. To the entire file. - On the Review tab, in the Comments group, click Show Comments.
The Comments pane is displayed.
- On the Comments pane, in the text box, type the comment that you want to add.
Tip: Make sure that all the comments on a single segment do not add up to more than 1024 characters (including spaces). Otherwise, certain comments might be truncated in Browser Workbench.
- In the Scope list, select whether you want to add the comment to the current selection, to the current segment, or to the entire file.
Important: The selection-level comments that you add in SDL Online Editor are displayed in Browser Workbench as segment-level comments. Selection-level comments are also displayed as segment-level comments in SDL Online Editor if users open the asset in another step than the one in which the comment was added.
Moreover, file-level comments are not displayed at all in Browser Workbench, but they are saved in the WorldServer database, so users can still see them when they perform other steps in SDL Online Editor or in SDL Trados Studio.
- In the Severity Level list, select the severity level (or importance) of your comment.
- Click Add.
