Creating a Project in SDL WorldServer 11.3

You can create a translation project in SDL WorldServer 11.3 by using the Create Project wizard.

Before you begin

The following instructions only apply to the Create Project procedure that you can perform in SDL WorldServer 11.3. If you want to create a project using the WorldServer legacy UI, you have to follow the procedure described here.

You can open the Create Project wizard in any of the following ways:
  • Go to Home > Overview, click the number of projects on the top right of the screen, and then, on the Projects page, click New Project.
  • Go to Home > Projects on the left side menu and click New Project.
  • Go to Home > Get Started and click New Project.

Procedure

  1. In the Create Project screen, in the Project Information section, type a project name and, optionally, a meaningful description. Then, select a client, a source locale, and a project type from the respective lists.
    • Project Name – This name appears in the Projects list to identify the project.
    • Description – (Optional) This description, displayed in the Projects list, helps you to identify the project.
    • Client – The client for whom this project will manage file exchanges and quotes. If you are a member of only one client, this option does not appear.
    • Source Locale – Select one of the source locales associated to the project type assigned to your client.
    • Project Type – The project type you select is used to automatically create a set of AIS locale folders for the project, and provides a basis for applying a set of AIS properties, default workflows, and business rule linkages for the new folders. If only one project type is associated to the selected client, that particular project type must be used. If there are multiple project types for the client, be sure to select the one whose AIS properties you want to apply to this translation project.
  2. In the Due Dates and Locales screen, select a due date and time for all the target locales. Selecting the Set Due Date per Locale check box enables you to set an individual due date and time for every single locale included in your translation project. Next, select the desired locales using double-click, drag-and-drop, or the arrows. You can see the number of available locales and selected locales displayed above the respective columns.
  3. In the Files screen, click Browse or use drag-and-drop to include the files you want to translate in your project. Adding a ZIP archive will automatically extract all the files and will display them as such.
  4. The Custom Attributes screen depends on the Project Type selected at the Project Information stage. For more information, see Change Attributes.
  5. The Summary screen presents the details of your project in a single screen. At this point, you can go back to any stage to make the final changes, if needed.
  6. Click Finish. Your newly created project is displayed in the Project Group/Locale list.
When the project is created, the selected project type is used to automatically create a set of AIS source and target locale folders for the project and provides the basis for applying the workgroup, workflow, file type configuration, cost model, TM, TD, custom AIS properties, and so on. The project folder created is located off the client folder defined for the client with whom the project type is associated, and is automatically named <project #>_<project name>. You must be a member of a client and that client must have one or more project types associated with it.

What to do next

Once the project is complete, you can start working on the tasks or you can assign the tasks to various users, depending on your permissions.
