Using smart markers in quote templates

Enter the smart markers in the *.xlsx file which your quote template is based on. You can enter all the smart markers or just a selection of smart markers, depending on the information you want displayed in your quote template.

Procedure

  1. Open an *.xlsx file.
  2. From the list of smart markers, identify the smart marker you need in your quote, and copy-paste it in your *.xlsx file in the column or row where you want it to show up.
  3. If you add smart markers which express costs, follow these steps to ensure the costs are expressed in the same currency as the project currency:
    1. In your *.xlsx file, enter a smart marker which expresses cost, in a cell of your choice.
    2. Right-click the cell, and go to Number > Category. Select Currency.
    3. Under Symbol, select £. When your custom quote is generated, the cost in the cell will be expressed in the project currency. For example, if your project quote is in Euro, the cell will express the cost in Euro. Note that the £ symbol is merely a placeholder for the actual project currency.
  4. Keep in mind the following behaviour:
    • By default, smart marker values are displayed vertically. To display smart marker values horizontally, append (horizontal) at the end of your smart marker.
      • Here is an example of a horizontal representation of values. Let's assume that your project has 3 target languages. You enter the smart marker for repetitions in column C. When the quote is generated for the 3 target languages, the word count for repetitions will be displayed in columns C to E.smart markers horizontal
      • Here is an example of a vertical representation of values. Let's assume that your project has 3 target languages. You enter the smart marker for repetitions in row 3. When the quote is generated for the 3 target languages, the word count for repetitions will be displayed on rows 3 to 5.smart markers vertical
    • If you work with custom fuzzy bands, do not include the actual name of your fuzzy band in the smart marker. Append a number to the Fuzzy Match expression in your smart marker.
Here is an example. Let 's say that you created 3 fuzzy bands: 99%-95%,94%-85%,75%-84%. Include the following expressions for your costs:
      • For 99%-95% use FuzzyMatch1
      • For 94%-85% use FuzzyMatch2
      • For 84%-75% use FuzzyMatch3
To populate your rows and columns with data for the 99%-95% fuzzy band, add the following smart markers:
      • TranslationCost.FuzzyMatch1.Name
      • TranslationCost.FuzzyMatch1.Count
      • TranslationCost.FuzzyMatch1.Rate
      • TranslationCost.FuzzyMatch1.Total
