Using MTQE

Machine Translation Quality Estimation (further referred to as MTQE) provides score-based MT translation for linguists who want higher translation throughput. MTQE is part of the Translation Quality feature, which rates translated segments as green, amber or red, depending on their level of quality.

Before you begin

To work with the MTQE feature, make sure you purchase a Language Weaver license which includes MT engines that have quality estimation capabilities. MTQE is an optional functionality which must be enabled on your account based on a contractual agreement.

About this task

Segments translated with MTQE carry a score represented by a vertical colored line:
  • Segments are marked Green if they have high quality.
  • Segments are marked Amber if they have medium quality.
  • Segments are marked Red if they have low quality.

MTQE segments are locked if this is specified in the project settings. Linguists can unlock segments, edit them (if needed), and then confirm them.

Procedure

  1. Open the appropriate file in Online Editor.
  2. On the right side of the screen, select Translation Quality (Trados Copilot Smart Help).
The Translation Quality panel is displayed.
  3. All segments which have MTQE origin are usually locked and marked by a vertical line which can be green (high quality), amber (medium quality), or red (low quality).
  4. You select a segment, and open the Translation Quality panel to check the details of that segment.
  5. You can keep the content as is or unlock it for editing.
  6. If you also purchased the Smart Review feature, continue assessing the segment with the LLM of your choice by selecting Estimate, editing the segment, and then selecting Estimate again, until you are satisfied with the results.
  7. When finished, confirm the segment.
