To display this dialog, choose Change Field Value when you are adding a new edit action to the Batch Edit wizard.

OptionDescription

Field

Select the field to be updated.

Change mode

Select the option that describes how you want existing field values to be handled. The options available here will change depending on the type of field you chose in the Field box:

  • Replace - Select this option if you want the existing field content to be replaced with the value in the Value box below.
  • Add - Select this option if you want to add the new value to any value that already exists in the field. If you have chosen a number field, you must specify a number in the Value box and this number will be added to the number that already exists in the field.
  • Remove - Select this option if you want to remove existing content from the field. If you have chosen a number field, you must specify a number in the Value box and this number will be subtracted from the number that already exists in the field.

Value

Specify the value to be used in the update. If you chose a number or date field, enter a number.

If you chose a picklist field type, the available picklist choices are displayed here. Select or clear the checkboxes to indicate which value or values should be added or removed.

Select OK to close this dialog, and then select Finish on the Batch Edit Script page to start the field value change process and display the Applying Batch Edit Script page.
