Edit Action: Find and Replace Text dialog
Use the Edit Action: Find and Replace Text dialog to set up a find-and-replace action to be performed on a translation memory (TM).
To display this dialog, choose Find and Replace Text when you are adding a new edit action to the Batch Edit wizard.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
Find what | Enter the text that is to be found and replaced. You cannot use wildcards in the text. If you put one of the wildcard characters (* or ?) in the search text, Trados Studio will look for text that contains an asterisk or question mark. |
Replace with | Enter the replacement text. Wherever the value in the Find what box is found, it will be replaced with the value you enter here. |
Search in | Source - Select this option to find and replace text in source segments only. Target - Select this option to find and replace text in target segments only. |
Options | Match case - When this option is selected, the search will only consider text to be matched where both the content and the character casing (upper or lower case) match. Regular Expressions - When this option is selected, you can use regular expressions in your search criteria. Regular expressions are used to search text for all occurrences of a particular sequence or pattern of characters. They differ from standard search tools because they use special metacharacters. Metacharacters enable you to create a single regular expression that will find all occurrences of a basic pattern and also specific variations of the pattern. Regular expressions should only be used by users who are experienced in their creation. |
Select OK to close this dialog, and then select Finish on the Batch Edit Script page to start the find-and-replace process and display the Applying Batch Edit Script page.
