Running batch tasks: PerfectMatch
If you create a project which has project files that are closely related or similar to the files of a previously-translated project, and if you have the bilingual files that were produced at that time, PerfectMatch can extract translations from the bilingual files and apply them to the new project files.
Procedure
- Decide whether you want to run the batch task sequence on an entire project or some project files:
- To run batch task sequences on an entire project, go to the Projects view and select the project you want to run batch task sequences on.
- To run batch task sequences on a file or a selection of files, go to the Projects view, select a project, and then go to the Files view and select the file or files you want to run batch task sequences on.
- On the Home tab, select Batch Tasks.
- Select Apply PerfectMatch.
- Select Next.
- On the Files page, consult the files to be batch processed for each language, and select or clear the checkboxes next to the files which do not suit your translation purpose.
- Select Next.
- On the PerfectMatch page, select the target language to which you want to add the previously translated bilingual files.
- Select Add, and go through the procedure which best suits your needs:
- If the files in your new project have the same file names and path location within the project as the files in the previous project, you can automatically search a folder for the previous files. This ensures that the bilingual files are automatically paired with the new project file.
- Select Matching Previous Documents from Folder.
- Browse to the required location, select the folder, and then select OK. The previously translated bilingual files are displayed in the Previous Document column next to the corresponding project file. Even though you have selected a specific target language, the wizard will still add any matching bilingual files that it finds for the other target languages in your folder. If the wizard finds other
SDLXLIFFfiles that do not match the file names in your project, it displays an error message stating the number of files it has been unable to add out of the number of files found.
- If the file names in your new project are different to the file names in the previous project, select the files using the following method:
- Under the Project File column, select the file for which you want to add a previous bilingual file, select Add, and then select Specific Previous Document.
- Browse to the required location, select the previous bilingual file, and then select Open.
- If the files in your new project have the same file names and path location within the project as the files in the previous project, you can automatically search a folder for the previous files. This ensures that the bilingual files are automatically paired with the new project file.
- Under Translation transfer options:
- Select Apply PerfectMatch and lock: if you are applying PerfectMatch from a project that has fully reviewed translations. This will mark all approved translations as PerfectMatch with a status of Signed Off.
- Select Use the original translation origin and status: if you want to use the same origin, translation status, score and target comments as the original file.
- Select Finish.
- Select Close.
