Adding AutoText entries outside translation

An AutoText entry is text that you can directly enter yourself to use in AutoSuggest. Once you have a list of items you would like to use for future translations, you can add them to an AutoSuggest dictionary at any time.

Before you begin

In order to use the AutoText as a source for AutoSuggest, you must first enable AutoSuggest.

About this task

AutoText entries are based on the target language and must be five or more characters in order for them to be offered as suggestions in AutoSuggest.

Procedure

  1. Go to File > Options.
  2. Go to AutoSuggest > AutoText.
  3. Select the language into which you want to enter the AutoText entry from the Target Language drop-down list. This is the target language you are translating into.
  4. Type your AutoText entry in the AutoText entries box.
  5. Select Add to add your AutoText entry.
  6. Select OK to save the settings and to close the Options dialog.
The added entry will now be in the list of suggestions that is displayed when you type the beginning of a term or phrase with the same initial characters in the Editor window.
