Adding comments to Track Changes

You can add comments to your tracked changes to provide extra information for your peer translators or reviewers.

Before you begin

Ensure Track Changes is enabled.

Procedure

  1. Open a file for review or open a file for sign-off.
  2. In the Editor window, of the Editor view, make your change by adding or deleting text.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Place your cursor anywhere inside the deleted or inserted stretch of text, go to the Review tab, and select Add Comment. The comment applies to either the deleted or inserted tracked change/selection (depending on your choice).
    • Select both the deleted and the inserted stretch of text, go to the Review tab, and select Add Comment. The comment applies to the entire tracked change (to both the deleted and the inserted tracked change as a whole). The deleted and the inserted stretch of text must be adjacent to one another.
    • Place your cursor anywhere inside a target TU segment, go to the Review tab, and select Add Comment. The comment applies to the entire segment.
  4. In the Add Comment dialog:
    1. Under Scope, select a scope option from the drop-down list, so you can override the defaults: Current Selection, Current Segment or Current File.
    2. Under Severity level, assign a severity type to your comment: For your information, Warning or Error.
    3. In the comment box, type your comment.
  5. Select OK to close the dialog.
