Adding custom QuickInsert buttons - quotes example
This example shows you how to add a custom button for inserting curly quotes (" ") into the target file.
Procedure
- Decide where you want to use the custom QuickInsert button:
- For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
- For all future projects, go to File > Options.
- In the File Types tree, expand the type of file for which you want to add a QuickInsert custom button.
- Select QuickInsert from your file type tree.
- Select Add....
- In the Add QuickInsert dialog, in the Name box, type Custom.
- In the Description box, type Curly Quotes. This description is used for the button's tooltip.
- In the Type box, select Text pair.
- Insert the left quote (“) in the Start Text box: with Num Lock on, hold down Alt, type 0147 on the numeric keyboard and then release.
- Insert the right guillemet (”) in the End Text box: with Num Lock on, hold down Alt, type 0148 on the numeric keyboard and then release.
- Select Display in QuickInsert group.
- Select OK.
- Create a new project and/or open a file of the type for which you added the new custom button.
- Select some text in the target segment and then click the new Curly Quotes button in the QuickInsert group. The selected text is surrounded by “ ”, as a text pair.
Note: If the new custom button does not appear in the QuickInsert group:
- Close the active file and then open it again.
- Make sure that you have not already assigned the nine available custom QuickInsert buttons.
