This example shows how to change the QuickInsert group so that you can quickly add emphasis tags to text to make the text bold. The sample file includes an inline tag, emphasis that you can use to follow along with this example.
Procedure
- Decide where you want to use the custom QuickInsert button:
- For the active project, go to the Projects view, and on the Home tab, select Project Settings.
- For all future projects, go to .
- In the File Types tree, select your XML file type.
- Select QuickInsert.
- SelectAdd....
- In the Add QuickInsert dialog:
- In the Name box, type Emphasis.
- In the Description box, type Bold. This description is used for the tooltip.
- In the Type box, select Tag pair.
- In the Element box, select Emphasis.
- In the Formatting box, select Edit, and then select Activate from the Bold box.
- Select Display in QuickInsert group.
- Select OK.
- Create a new project or return to your open file. Select some text in the target segment, and then select the new button in the QuickInsert group. The selected text is formatted in bold and depending on your tag display settings, it is also surrounded by an
<emphasis> </emphasis> tag pair.
Note: To display the new button in the group, you may need to close the open file, and then open it again. If you still cannot see your button, it may be due to lack of space in the group, select the dialog launcher icon to select the button and apply the formatting from the list of QuickInsert buttons.
