Configuring file types
Some types of files contain metadata or other information that you generally do not need to see or edit when you translate these files in Trados Studio. However, you may need to change some of these default settings to extract more or less content from certain types of files, depending on the specific requirements of your translation project.
About this task
- Context 1: You are about to open an individual file and you want to change the settings for that file. From the menu bar, select . When you open the document, Trados Studio creates a project to hold the document using these settings. (These settings are the default settings used to create a new project.)
- Context 2: You have just opened an individual file () and want to change the settings for that file. You opened an individual file via the following step sequence: . In the Open Document window, select Advanced to display the Project Template Settings - Default window. This is the same default set of settings that you access from .
- Context 3: You are creating a project and want to change the settings for that project. To access the settings, in the Project files window of the project wizard, select File Types. Important: Change the file type settings for a file before you add the file to the project. The file type settings for a file take effect when the file is added to the project. If you do not change the file type settings, the project takes the project template settings.
- Context 4: You have a project and want to change the project settings before you add a file. In the Projects view, right-click your project in the Projects list. From the pop-up menu choose Project Settings.
- Context 5: You have a project and want to change the project settings after you have added a document. Remove the document from the project, change the project settings as in the previous case, and add the document again.
- Context 6: You want to change project template settings. Go to . In the Project Templates dialog, select a project and select Edit.
