Configuring TRADOStag file types

Configure TRADOStag file type settings to customize the way .*ttx files are processed during translation or review.

Procedure

  1. To configure file type settings, go to:
    • Projects view > Home > Project Settings, for the active project.
    • File > Options, for all future projects.
  2. Expand File Types and select TRADOStag.
  3. On the Compatibility page, customize options for processing *.ttx files.
    • Treat inline tags as placeholders (disable smart tag pairing) - extracts each opening and closing tags in the *.ttx file as standalone tags. If, on the other hand, you enable smart tag pairing, Trados Studio - adds closing tags as necessary to ensure that every opening tag has a closing tag in the same segment.
    • Generate Document Structure Information - uses structure tags in the TRADOStag *.ttx document to provide document context. However, the TRADOStag document can contain unpaired document structure information, and when this is the case, the Trados Studio can hang, or generate thousands of spurious context tags. Disable this option if you find problems opening some TRADOStag files.
    • Confirm all translated segments with match value below 100% - sets all existing segments to Draft as it cannot find confirmation information for these translations. Enable the Confirm all translated segments with match value below 100% option if you know that the existing translations in your *.ttx document are correct. As a result, Trados Studio sets the status of these segments to Translated. Trados 2007 did not add confirmation information to translated segments.
    • Include leading/trailing tags in segments - Trados 2007 and earlier attached tags found outside segment boundaries to the translation units (TUs) sent to the translation memories (TMs). In Trados Studio, these tags are moved outside the segment row. In case of tag mismatches, these legacy TMs may not generate expected results. If you are working with *.ttx files and Trados 2007 TMs, enable the Include leading/trailing tags in segments option to include the tags into the segment content. Trados Studio then imitates the old Trados 2007 behavior and includes the tags in the TM lookups so that you can leverage better the content of your legacy TM.
