Currency

Use the Currency Formats dialog to view or edit a list of currency formats (symbol and placement) for the current language. Currencies are items which should not be translated when a TM is applied to target segments.

Trados Studio uses a default list of currency symbols for source and target languages. During translation, the items on this list are identified as placeables instead of normal, translatable words. You can add your own custom currency symbols, but make sure to update the list for both the source and target languages of a TM. This ensures that Trados Studio can create a 1:1 correspondence between the non-translatable items in the source and target documents and will not trigger QA Checker errors and TM penalties.

For example, add "USD" as custom currency symbol for the source and target language of your TM. Patterns like "100 USD" will be considered placeables and QA Checker can verify if these non-translatable items exists both in the source and target segments.
