Defining user access to file-based TMs

You can password protect a file-based translation memory (TM). This is particularly useful if you create TMs used by someone outside your company. Password protection implies that you must define passwords for all of the available access levels. Everyone who tries to open the TM will be asked to provide a password (including the administrator).

Procedure

  1. Go to the Translation Memories view and, in the navigation tree, select the TM you want to edit.
If the TM is not available in the navigation tree, click Open > Open Translation Memory from the Ribbon and then select Translation Memory to open a local TM, or Open > Server-based Translation Memory to open a server-based TM.
  2. Go to the Home tab and select Settings.
  3. In the Translation Memory Settings dialog, select Access Rights from the navigation tree.
  4. In the Access Rights settings page, specify a password for each of the available access levels. Whenever you or another user accesses the TM, you will be asked to provide the password.
  5. Select OK again to save your changes and close the dialog. Changes are effective immediately.
