Deleting TUs

You can delete translation units (TUs) from a translation memory (TM) if TUs are no longer needed or suitable for your work.

About this task

If you want to make a change that will affect many TUs throughout the TM, use the batch edit and delete tools.

Procedure

  1. In the Translation Memories view, make the TM for which you want to delete a TU the active TM.
  2. In the TM side-by-side editor window, select the TU that you want to delete.
  3. Select Mark TU for Deletion from the Ribbon. The edit translation icon appears in the Translation Unit Status column to indicate that the TU has been marked for deletion. To permanently delete the TU from the TM you must commit the change. You can do this immediately or wait until there a number of changes to be committed.
  4. If you change your mind and you no longer want to delete the TU, select the segment that is currently marked for deletion, go to the Home tab and select Discard TU Changes.
  5. When you have finished making changes to the current page of TUs, commit the changes by going to the Home tab and selecting Commit Changes with the following options:
    • Commit Changes and Re-Apply Search, to have the last item you edited automatically searched, after you commit your changes to the TM.
    • Commit Changes and Clear Search, to commit your changes to the TM, without having the last item you edited automatically searched.
