Downloading termbase definitions

If you want to reuse the termbase definition of existing termbases, you can download it and then apply it when you create new termbases. When you use termbase definition files (*.xdt files), you ensure that your termbases are configured consistently across your organization.

About this task

Termbase definition files (*.xdt files) are compatible with MultiTerm.

Procedure

  1. In Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect to your cloud account.
  2. Log in with your RWS ID credentials. Trados Studio shows all the cloud accounts that you are a member of.
  3. Select your cloud account name from the drop-down menu, and then select RWS Account at the bottom of the window. This opens your cloud account in your default browser where you are prompted to log in.
  4. In the cloud environment, go to the Terminology view or to the Projects > Resources > Termbases.
  5. Select the check box corresponding to the termbase you want to download a definition for.
  6. Select More Actions > Download Termbase Definition. Choose either: Default format or MultiTerm. The MultiTerm option exports the termbase definition in a format which includes language codes compatible with MultiTerm.
  7. Save the *.xdt file.

What to do next

You can now create termbases based on a common *.xdt file.
