Editing the Ordinal Followers list
When identifying untranslatable content and segmenting text, Trados Studio uses a list of ordinal followers for each language This list ensures that ordinal followers are treated as placeables and that they do not incorrectly trigger a segment break after the full stop. Ordinal followers are not relevant for all languages, but are is particularly useful for the German language.
About this task
Considering the date expressed in German as 15. Oktober, if Oktober were not in the list of ordinal followers, "15." would denote the end of a segment and Oktober would start another segment.
The Ordinal Followers list is stored in the language resources of your translation memory (TM). To add your own ordinal followers to the list, edit the default language resource of your TM.
You can edit the language resource for an existing TM in the Translation Memories view. Alternatively, you can also create a language resource template with a custom Ordinal Followers list that you can then apply to all future project TMs.
