Editor view > Advanced tab
The Advanced tab contains less frequently used commands for translating and reviewing files in Trados Studio. Trados Studio shows the Advanced tab only if you open a file for translation, review or sign-off.
The following table describes all the default groups and commands that are displayed on the Advanced tab in the Editor view:

Change Case | Select this option to change the casing of selected text. The Change Case dialog is displayed. You can also change the casing of selected text by holding down SHIFT, and repeatedly pressing F3 to cycle through different text cases. | Formatting | |
Restore Tags | Select this option restore a tag when a ghost tag is displayed. When you insert the missing tag, the ghost tag disappears. Shortcut command: Ctrl+Shift+G | ||
Protect Tags | Select this option to activate tag protection. When tag protection is active, tags cannot be deleted. | ||
Auto-Insert Tags | Select this option to insert tag pairs inside your target segment. This will automatically transfer tags from the source segment and place them at the right position in the target segment. Auto-Insert Tags works if your project is using an appropriate translation memory. For more information, see Placing Tags using Auto-Insert Tags | ||
Active Document Settings | Select this option to specify the source and target language for the active document, and to specify the encoding for generating the translated file. The Active Document Settings dialog is displayed. | File Actions | |
Lock Segments | Lock/Unlock Segments | Select this option to lock a segment. Locked text cannot be edited. When you select a locked segments, this option changes to enable you to unlock the segment instead. By default, locked segments are ignored during QA checks. If you need to verify text inside locked segments, go to your Project Settings > Verification > QA Checker > Segments to exclude and disable the option Exclude locked segments. | Segment Actions |
| Lock/Unlock Selection | Select this option to lock selected text within a single segment. When you select locked text, the button changes to enable you to unlock the selected text instead. Text inside locked selections of a segment cannot be edited and is always ignored during QA checks. | ||
Edit Source | Select this option to correct spelling mistakes or other typos that are in the source segments. | ||
Clear Draft Segments | Select this option to remove the content from all target segments that have a status of Draft . | ||
Lookup Translation | Select this option to search the translation memory (TM) for matches for the current segment. Results are displayed in the Translation Results window. | ||
Add AutoText | Select this option to add a text entry to your AutoSuggest dictionary. | Editing | |
Editing Dialog Box Launcher | Select this option to open the Options dialog on the AutoText page. Here you can edit/edit your AutoText entries and import/export AutoText files. | ||
Direct input | Direct input | Select this option if you want to get suggestions from AutoSuggest while in composition mode based on the content you type for the Korean language. This is the default option. | IME Behavior |
Confirmed input | Select this option if you want to get suggestions from AutoSuggest after you hit the return or the tab key for the Korean language. | ||
Mixed source language translation | Open the pane where you can set up how to translate mixed-source language files. | Any TM | |
Add bookmark | Select this option to add a bookmark with a note to the active target segment. | Bookmarks | |
Go to last segment | Jump to the last segment in the last document you worked on. | ||
Go to last segment in project | Jump to the last segment you worked on in any given project. | ||
Bookmark settings | Open the Bookmark settings dialog and choose if Trados Studio jumps to the last segment you worked on startup. | ||
View Bookmarks | Select this option to display the Bookmarks pane to manage and navigate to your bookmarks. | ||
Insert symbol | Select this option to display a dialog with special characters that you can insert into the Editor. | Symbols | |
Special character 1-9 | Quickly access the most recent nine special characters you inserted into the Editor by selecting it. | ||
