Exporting termbase entries

When you export termbase data, you can store it locally for future reference or reuse it by importing it in another termbase. If you import the data back to Trados Terminology, all data types are preserved. However, if you import the data to MultiTerm, the cross-references you created in Trados Terminology, are not preserved.

Procedure

  1. In Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect to your cloud account.
  2. Log in with your RWS ID credentials. Trados Studio shows all the cloud accounts that you are a member of.
  3. Select your cloud account name from the drop-down menu, and then select RWS Account at the bottom of the window. This opens your cloud account in your default browser where you are prompted to log in.
  4. In the cloud environment, go to the Terminology view or to the Projects > Resources > Termbases.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Select the check box corresponding to the termbase whose data you want to export.
    • Click inside the termbase row to open the termbase.
  6. Next to Export, select The icon you need to select to specify the advanced options of the export..
  7. Expand the Advanced options list and specify the available export settings:
    • For *.xlsx and *.csv formats, specify values for:
      • Separator character for synonyms
      • Separator character for multiple values
      • Header prefixes for each level: Entry level, Language level, Term level. Do not add the same value in all three fields. You can add up to 10 characters.
    • For *.csv formats, specify a value for Separator character for csv values as well.
    • For all formats, select the Download Compressed (Zipped) check box to download your termbase as an archive.
    • By default, the entire termbase content is downloaded. To download filtered content (concepts) only, select the Apply Filter check box, and then select one of the options:
      • Current active filter
      • One of your saved filters
  8. Choose an export format: *.TBX, *.XML, *.XLSX, or *.CSV. If you export content in *.xlsx or *.csv format, system fields are also exported.
  9. Select Export entries.
  10. Wait until the download is complete and select Download file.
