File> Options> Editor> Translation Results

You can determine the way your translation results are displayed.

Use the Editor > Translation Results Window settings to specify:
  • What information is displayed in the Translation Results window
  • What formatting is applied to information displayed in the Translation Results window

To display the Editor > Translation Results Window settings, select File > Options from the Ribbon, and then select Editor > Translation Results Window from the navigation tree in the Options dialog.

Display Options

These settings affect the way translation memory (TM) matches are displayed in the Translation Results window.

Show document source segment

When this option is selected, the document source segment is displayed in the Translation Results window. It is displayed on the row above the first TM lookup result.

Show translation unit field values

When this option is selected, field values for the translation unit (TU) are displayed in the Translation Results window. These are field values that you or the person who created the TM specified, for example, a client ID, project or cost code.

The field values are displayed in a special column that is added to the extreme right-hand side of the window. If there are no field values for a TU, the column does not appear.

Number of field values to show:

If you selected the Show translation unit field values option above, specify how many of those values you want to be displayed.

Search result display mode

Select from the following options:

  • Show original translation unit - When this option is selected, the translation, exactly as it exists in the TM, is displayed.
  • Show translation proposal - When this option is selected, any placeables are auto-substituted before the TM translation is displayed.

Show document source segment differencesIf you have chosen to display the document source segment in the Translation Results window, this option affects the display of the source segment text. When this option is selected, differences between the document source segment and the source segment in the currently selected lookup result are indicated as follows:
  • Inserted text is underlined and colored blue (DarkCyan).
  • Deleted text has a line through it and is colored red.
Show translation memory source segment differencesWhen this option is selected, differences between the document source segment and the source segment in the currently selected lookup result are indicated as described in the Show document source segment differences option.

These options control the colors used to identify differences between source document and TM segments.

Box 1

This option displays how inserted text that is present in the document segment, but not in the TM segment is shown. By default, inserted or changed text is underlined and colored blue (DarkCyan).

To customize this, select Change and, in the Font Formatting dialog, select a different text formatting or a different text background.

Box 2

This option displays how deleted text that is present in the TM segment, but not the document segment is displayed. By default, deleted text has a line through it and is colored red.

To customize this, select Change and, in the Font Formatting dialog, select a different text formatting or a different text background.

Source font size

Trados Studio displays all text in this font size in the source language segments.

Target font size

Trados Studio displays all text in this font size in the target language segments.
