File > Options > Translation Memory and Automated Translation

You can determine what translation memories (TMs) and automated translations are applied to files.

Use the Translation Memory and Automated Translation settings to specify:
  • What main TMs, project TMs and automated translations are applied to files.
  • Whether these are included in look-ups and concordance searching.
  • Whether the TM will be updated with the translated content from the file(s).

These settings appear in multiple dialogs in Trados Studio.

OptionDescription

Use different translation providers for this language direction

This option is only displayed if you are viewing this page under the individual language pair settings and not the All Language Pairs level. Typically, you select your TMs at All Language Pairs level. Only select this option if you want to specify TM selections at the individual language pair level as an exception. You may want to do this if you want to:

  • Use different TMs for a particular language pair.
  • Use a different order of the TMs in the cascade for a particular language pair.
  • Enable lookups, updates or concordance searching differently in that TM for a particular language pair.

  • Server-based Translation Memory - Select this option to use a TM stored on a server. In the Select Server-based Translation Memory dialog, connect to a server and select the TMs.
  • Cloud-based resources - Select this option to connect to the translation engines configured for your cloud account, or to the Neural Machine Translation models that you subscribed to via Language Weaver.
