The Home tab contains the most frequently used commands for working with Trados Studio projects and packages.

Project Settings | Select this option to display the Project Settings dialog for the active project. | Configuration |
Open For Translation | Select this option to open the selected file for translation in Trados Studio . The file opens in the Editor view. It also automatically opens any translation memories (TMs), termbases and settings associated with the file in the active project. The Editor configuration changes when you open a file for translation and is designed to assist you in the different tasks you might perform when translating. | Open |
Open for Review | Select this option to open the selected file for review in Trados Studio . The file opens in the Editor view. It also automatically opens any TMs, termbases and settings associated with the file in the active project. The Editor configuration changes when you open a file for review and is designed to assist you in the different tasks you might perform when reviewing. | |
Open for Sign Off | Select this option to open the selected file for sign-off in Trados Studio. Opening a file for sign-off is an additional review that you can perform after a file has been opened for review. The file opens in the Editor view. It also automatically opens any TMs, termbases and settings associated with the file in the active project. The Editor configuration changes when you open a file for sign-off and is designed to assist you in the different tasks you might perform when signing off. | |
Batch Tasks | Select this option to start batch processing tasks. The Batch Tasks drop-down list is displayed. When you click a command on this list, files that are open in Trados Studio are closed, and the Batch Processing wizard starts. | File Actions |
Explore Containing Folder | Select this option to open the folder on your machine that contains the currently selected file. | |
Open File Externally | Select this option to open the selected file in a different application on your machine. If the selected file type is associated with an application on your machine, it will automatically open in that application. If there is no application associated with that file type, you will be prompted to select an application. This is useful if you want to open the original source language file in its native application. If the file is currently a bilingual | |
Open File With | Select this option to choose an application in which to open the selected file. This is useful if you want to open the original source language file in its native application. | |
Add Files | Select this option to select files to add to the active project. The project files can be added to the project as translatable files or as reference files. You can also apply batch tasks to the files while adding them. | |
Add Folders | Select this option to display the Add Folder dialog where you can select a folder structure containing files that you want to add to the active project. The folder is added to the navigation pane. Sub-folders are also added automatically. The project files are added to the project source language as translatable files. Available only in the Files view. | |
Add New Folder | Select this option to open the New Folder dialog where you can add a new empty folder to the active project. | |
Delete Files | Select this option to delete the selected files from the active project. | |
Change File Usage | Select this option to change what this file will be used for in this project. The Change File Usage dialog is displayed. | |
Revert to SDLXLIFF | Select this option to revert a file that has already been converted to its final translated target version back to a bilingual | |
Check Out | Select a Trados GroupShare project file and select this option to download an up-to-date copy of the file to your computer. When you check out a file, Trados GroupShare automatically locks the copy of the file on the Project Server so that other team members cannot check out the same file at the same time as you. | GroupShare |
Check In | Select a Trados GroupShare project file and select this option to update the Trados GroupShare server with the version of the file that you have on your computer. | |
Cancel Check Out | Select a Trados GroupShare project file and select this option to cancel your check out and discard the changes you made locally. If you have the Cancel Checkout permission, you also have the ability to cancel someone else's check out. | |
Get Latest Version | Select a Trados GroupShare Project file and select this option to download the most up-to-date version of this file, which includes the latest changes other users made to the file. | |
Change Phase | Select a Trados GroupShare project file and select this option to change its current phase. Choose a phase that reflects the current translation stage in the file. You can only change the phase of a file in the project target language. | |
Assign to Users in Phase | Select files from a Trados GroupShare project and select this option to assign them to users who are members of a Trados GroupShare role. The assigned users can download the files from a Trados GroupShare server and complete the tasks specific to the phase that you specify. You can only create assignments in the target language and only for translatable and localizable files. | |
Complete Task | Select this option to mark the selected cloud file task as Complete. When you complete a task, the file is automatically moved to the next task in workflow and is assigned to the default assignees for that task type. | Cloud Projects |
Release Task | Select this option to cancel your ownership of a task that you have accepted so that other users can pick it up instead. Released tasks are removed from your list of active tasks and are sent back to the default assignees for that task type. If you are on Trados Studio's built in cloud capabilities, released tasks are automatically reassigned to you, as you are the only user in your cloud account. | |
Open in Cloud | Select this option to open the selected cloud project in Language Cloud. This opens your account on the Projects tab, in a browser. Here you can find more information about the selected cloud project, including how your project is being pre-processed before the project files become available for you to work on in Trados Studio. | |
Save to Cloud | Select this option to save your selected local project to cloud. This displays the Save to Cloud wizard. Saving your local projects to cloud allows you to upgrade them to cloud projects with the help of the wizard. For more information, see . | |
Open in Online Editor | Select this option to switch from Studio's Editor view to the Online Editor. Use the Online Editor as a companion for translating and reviewing cloud project files in a browser. | |
Refresh | Select this option to update the list of cloud projects available for your account. Cloud projects available for download are marked with | |
Create Project Package | Select this option to create a project package containing all of the files that need to be sent to a project team member in order for them to commence work on a project. Once the package is created, you send it by email to the team member who will be working on the project files. | Packages |
Create Return Package | Click this to create a return package containing project files for which a specific manual task has been completed. For example, project files that have been translated or reviewed. | |
Layout | Choose an option to display a different layout in the Files view. The layout determines what columns of information are displayed on the top window in the Files view. You can select from:

Go to last segment | Jump to the last segment in the last document you worked on. | Bookmarks |
Go to last segment in project | Jump to the last segment you worked on in any given project. | |
Bookmark settings | Open the Bookmark settings dialog and choose if Trados Studio jumps to the last segment you worked on startup. | |
View Bookmarks | Select this option to display the Bookmarks pane to manage and navigate to your bookmarks. |
