Generating the entry structure of a termbase template when creating termbases

When you create Trados Terminology termbases, you can save the termbase definition as a termbase template. A further consequence is that you can download the termbase structure in multiple formats and save it for future reference. The termbase structure is a template which shows users how the termbase is organized.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have generated template files when creating termbases. To generate templates based on the termbase definition, when creating a termbase, select the Save as a reusable termbase template check box on the Summary page and enter a name for your template.

Procedure

  1. In Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect to your cloud account.
  2. Log in with your RWS ID credentials. Trados Studio shows all the cloud accounts that you are a member of.
  3. Select your cloud account name from the drop-down menu, and then select RWS Account at the bottom of the window. This opens your cloud account in your default browser where you are prompted to log in.
  4. In the cloud environment, go to the Terminology view or to the Projects > Resources > Termbases.
  5. Select the Termbases tab, and then select the termbase.
  6. Select More Actions > Structure, and then select Download samples.
The *.zip archive contains two versions of the termbase template—the Basic one and the Advanced one—in the following formats: *.xlsx, *.csv, *.xml and *.tbx.
