Help for upgraders

The upgrade process entails moving from an older version of the product to a more recent one.

For more information on data and TM migration from SDL Trados 2007 and SDLX 2007, consult the Trados Studio 2024 Migration Guide.

Upgrading translation memories

You can use file-based translation memories in the .SDLTM format in Trados Studio 2024. They are the same format that was used in all of versions of Trados Studio since Trados Studio 2009.

You can also upgrade older translation memories to the .SDLTM format using the Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack from the RWS AppStore.

Required add-on

To enable the Upgrade Translation Memories wizard in Trados Studio 2021 and later, go to the Add-Ins tab > RWS AppStore and install the Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack.

You can also install the TM Optimizer app to remove unwanted tag content from the legacy translation memories (TMs) and increase the performance of the import and the leveraging in Trados Studio.

For information on installing apps, see Install and manage AppStore plug-ins.
