Import and export the following language resources to and from a TM or TM template: abbreviations, ordinal followers and variables. This enables you to bulk transfer these resources as lists in a .TXT format. Trados Studio uses these language resource lists to identify untranslatable content and determine segment breaks.
About this task
To import your existing lists of language resources, create a .TXT file with one item per line. You need a separate import file for each language resource type: variables, acronyms and ordinal followers.
Trados Studio removes any duplicate entries in the import file. Items that already exist in the language resource list will not be imported.
Procedure
- In the Translation Memories view, click Open and select:
- Open Translation Memory to edit a local TM.
- Open Server-based Translation Memory to edit a TM on TM Server.
- Open Language Resource Template to edit a TM template.
- In the Translation Memories pane on the left, right-click on your TM or language resource template and select Settings.
- Identify the language for which you want to import the language resource list. Make sure to use the same language resources in the source and target language to avoid differences in segmentation and TM matching penalties.
- Click inside the resource for which you want to import or export bulk items: Variables, Abbreviations, Ordinal followers.
- In the dialog box, click:
- Import to add a .TXT list of existing items for the selected resource.
- Export all to create a .TXT list of all the existing items for later reuse.
- Select OK to close the dialog box.
Trados Studio saves your new items and arranges the list alphabetically.
