Linking termbase entries to external links

You can link termbase entries to external links which may typically provide more information about the meaning of the term.

Before you begin

Ensure that you added field information to your termbase entry.

Procedure

  1. In Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect to your cloud account.
  2. Log in with your RWS ID credentials. Trados Studio shows all the cloud accounts that you are a member of.
  3. Select your cloud account name from the drop-down menu, and then select RWS Account at the bottom of the window. This opens your cloud account in your default browser where you are prompted to log in.
  4. In the cloud environment, go to the Terminology view or to the Projects > Resources > Termbases.
  5. Click inside a termbase row to open the termbase.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • If you can find the term you want to link, select it.
    • If you cannot find the term you want to link, search for it, and then select it.
  7. Identify the field where you want to insert the external link.
  8. Select the field value.
  9. Select link symbol.
  10. In the Manage a Cross-reference dialog, select the Hyperlink sub-tab and insert the link.
  11. Select Save.
  12. Select confirmation symbol.

Link termbase entry A to a thesaurus link

Let's consider you have entry A and you want to link its English version to an external link pointing to an online thesaurus dictionary. The Note field is available for your termbase entry.

Do the following:
  1. Open the termbase.
  2. Select entry A.
  3. Select Note.
  4. Select link symbol.
  5. In the Manage a Cross-reference dialog, select the Hyperlink sub-tab and insert the link.
  6. Enter the external link to the online thesaurus dictionary.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Select confirmation symbol.
