Opening alignment files manually

Open the result of the alignment (the alignment result file *sdlalign) processed by Trados Studio to check TUs and correct any misalignments before importing the alignment results into your specified translation memory (TM).

About this task

When you open an alignment result file in the Alignment view, Trados Studio displays the aligned source and target files on two side-by-side columns. The two files are segmented according to the segmentation rules that you specified for the selected TM before starting the alignment.

Alignment files can be opened in the Alignment view:
  • Automatically
    • When you choose the Align a Single File Pair option, Trados Studio automatically opens the alignment result file for review in the Alignment view. To save the *.sdlalign file on your computer for later review, go to the Home tab, and select Save As.
    • When you choose the Align Multiple Files option, Trados Studio saves the alignment result file for each file pair if you keep the default Save alignment result files for later review option enabled on the first page of the Align Documents wizard. When the alignment is complete, Trados Studio prompts you to open the folder with alignment result files. Select and double-click the *.sdlalign result files to open them individually in the Alignment view.
  • Manually - If you have saved the alignment result file for later review, you can manually open the *.sdlalign file as per the current procedure.

Procedure

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Go to File > Open Alignment.
    • On Welcome view or the Translation Memories view, on the Home tab, select Align Documents > Open Alignment.
  2. Browse to the location of your *.sdlalign file and double-click to open it.
